“Chemistry, The Central Science” by Brown/Lemay/Bursten, 12th ed., Prentice-Hall, 2012.   

The "a la carte" loose-leaf format is recommended.

Laboratory Text: “Manhattan College General Chemistry 103 Lab Manual”, available at the office of the Dean of Science, H308.

 

Grading Policy:

Quizzes (5), 20%; Hour Exams (3), 35%; Final Exam    (comprehensive), 20%; Laboratory, 25%, Total = 100.   

 

There are no make-ups on quizzes and exams.  The lowest quiz grade will be dropped.   Quizzes may be unannounced and may contain assigned homework problems.

 

Homework will be assigned but not graded.   Your success in this course will require that you work the assigned HW questions.  The answers to odd numbered questions are in the back of your textbook.   Complete solutions are given in the paperback "Solutions to Exercises" for 'Chemistry, The Central Science' which is on reserve in all campus libraries.  

 

Required Supplies

You must bring a scientific calculator and a periodic table to class every day.
