Thanks in part to the movements associated with Occupy Wall Street, wealth, poverty, and inequality have been increasingly in the news. One of the goals of this course is to help you acquire the knowledge and tools to evaluate the claims being made, to make informed judgments about them as a voter, and to think critically about how policy change has happened in the past, how change might happen in the future, and how you can be most effective if you want to have some impact upon the areas of social and economic policy that matter most to you.
